What a nice surprise to see you here! I know, I know I haven't been around at all in the last month or two. But I wanted to share our summer vacation! We were gone 10 days...July 2 thru July 11. Here is the simple recap:
Thursday
- leave San Diego at 7am, arrive in Camp Verde, Arizona at 5pm
- lunch: Yuma at Carl's Jr.
- dinner: Camp Verde at Johnny Rockets
- on the road all day
Friday
- leave Camp Verde, Arizona at 9am, arrive in Mancos, Colorado
- breakfast: Camp Verde at Cliff Castle Casino
- lunch: Sandwiches on the road
- dinner: Hamburgers on the grill
- play minature golf
- leave Mancos at noon, arrive in Durango, Colorado at 4pm
- go to Mesa Verde National Park
- see Spruce Tree House
- lunch: Spruce Tree Terrace
- Lil'D got a Jr. Park Ranger Badge!!
- we drove to Durango, parked the RV at United Campgrounds and guess what ran through the campground? The train tracks for the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad(riding the train was the main reason we went to Durango!)
- we drove into town to watch the Fourth of July parade, but when the train arrived we watched them put the engine in the shed instead of the parade.
- dinner: spaghetti in the motorhome
Sunday
- leave Durango on the 8:30am train, arrive in Silverton at 12pm-2 hours for lunch
- breakfast: McDonalds
- lunch: Mother Cluckers
- leave Silverton at 2pm, arrive Durango at 5:30pm
- dinner: at the motorhome
Monday
- leave Durango and drive through Silverton, Ouray, and Telluride
- Durango: Honeyville
- Silverton: One hundred Gold Mine
- Ouray: Lunch at Goldbelt Bar & Grill
- Telluride: rode the free gondola and Lild did the Bungee Trampoline
- long short cut home (off road excursion in an HHR)
- dinner: in the motorhome
Tuesday
- Drove to Purgatory Durango Mountain Resort and rode the Alpine Slide (I forgot to put the battery in my camera so I have no photos)
- Jeremy crashed hard.
- Lunch: motorhome
- Dinner: Bar D Chuckwagon supper
Wednesday
- Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum
- looked around in the shops in downtown Durango
- played on the railroad tracks!
- get ice cream at Dairy Queen
Thursday
- left Durango at 7:30am, arrived in Williams, AZ at 4pm
- lunch: McDonalds
- watch the Grand Canyon Train arrive
- dinner: in the motorhome
- eat smores
- go for a trike ride before it got completely dark
Friday
- went to the grand canyon
- lunch: peanute butter and jelly sandwiches in the motorhome
- leave williams, AZ at 1pm, arrive Phoenix, AZ at 7pm
- dinner: McDonalds
Saturday
- leave Phoenix, AZ at 8:30am, arrive San Diego, CA 4pm
- drive all day
- unpack, wash clothes
