Day 8...Vacation
J and I decided that we wanted to drive straight home today instead of breaking up the drive home into 2 days. We packed everything up and ate breakfast at McDonald's one last time. After breakfast we drove to Fairfield, California...the home of Jelly Belly. We took the tour of the factory. It was actually pretty cool. The shop was really cool too. They had a free sample bar. I tried cappuccino, 7-up, pickle and sausage. We also bought a bag of various flavors. We had lunch at Jelly Belly before we started our long drive home. I had fun on the drive home trying different jelly belly flavors.
AFTERNOON:
We drove for hours.
EVENING:
We stopped at McDonald's for dinner. Lil'D just kept eating chicken tenders and was a bottomless pit. He finally decided he was done. He slept the rest of the way home.
We got home at 10:30. I gave Lil'D a bottle, but he was too hyper. It's like he took a power nap. I let him play for a while. I could totally tell he was really glad to be home. I finally got him in bed and he was sleep by midnight.
-Until tomorrow
12.Stay a night in a hotel with J
We stayed in:

Monterrey
San Jose

Day 7...Vacation
We went to IHOP for breakfast. Lil'D is enjoying eating pancakes and eggs. We were going to see the wine country today!
We drove to Calistoga first. It was beautiful. The vineyards were just incredible! The rows of grapes were really neat to see.
AFTERNOON:
We picked a winery called Artesa. We toured and wine tasted. It was fun. We had lunch at Bear Family Restaurant in Sonoma. Afterwards we went to Sonoma Traintown. It is the most well developed scale railroad in America. We had the 5pm train to ourselves.
EVENING:
We went to Napa and looked for souvenirs and couldn't find any at all. Boo. We got back to the hotel and was in bed by 9:30pm
-Until tomorrow
June 28, 2007
Day 6...Vacation
We went to breakfast at Denny's.
We went to Six Flag's Discovery Kingdom all day
AFTERNOON:
This Six Flag's is really cool. It has 3 areas: Land, which has elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers and one alligator. Sky, which is about 5 rollercoasters. Sea, which had dolphin show, a killer whale show and a shark encounter. There was also a Thomas the train area and a Looney Tunes area for Lil'D. He really enjoyed it. He rode the helicopters, 2 trains and the carousel. He had a very busy day.
EVENING:
We left Six Flag's at about 5:30, went and got dinner at Wendy's. Lil'D had strawberry yogurt for the first time. He loved it! We went back to the hotel, gave Lil'D a bath, and put him to sleep. I organized EVERYTHING and now am about to go to sleep!
-Until tomorrow

Day 5...Vacation
We drove to San Francisco this morning. Grandma Ham's brother and his wife and Grandma Ham's sister and her husband all came with us. We parked at Pier 39 and took photos first. We ate lunch at Bubba Gump's. Y.U.M.M.Y!!
AFTERNOON:
After lunch we went to a candy store and filled up again. Half of us walked the 6 blocks to the cable cars at Ghiradelli square. We took the cable cars downtown. It was a fun ride. A tad bit difficult with Lil'D. It was cool for about 10 minutes. The other 10 minutes he was squirmy. J and I went into a mall to change Lil'D. We happened to go into Bloomingdale's. That was the nicest family "lounge" I have ever been in. We were going to ride the cable car back to Ghiradelli square but it the brake line broke when it reached the top of the hill. J and I waited for about 15 minutes for another car but we got impatient and decided to walk. It was a pretty long walk. Lil'D was in a backpack on J's back asleep halfway. It was about 15-20 blocks to Pier 39. We made it. We grabbed a crab cake, bought some souvenirs, said our goodbyes to our aunts and uncles, and continued our drive to Vallejo.
EVENING:
We sat in traffic for about an hour to just get out of downtown. We crossed the bay bridge and drove about 30 miles to our next hotel. We picked up some fast food and headed to the hotel. We Lil'D proofed the room, unpacked what we needed, gave Lil'D a bath, put Lil'D to bed and went to sleep ourselves.
-Until tomorrow

Day 4...Vacation
We got up at 7am and were ready by 8:30. We had breakfast at McDonald's. We met "everybody" at 9:30am. We drove to Felton and rode on the Roarin' Woods Camp Steam Train. It was a nice little excursion. It was an hour and 10 minutes and Lil'D loved it. It was his first ride on a steam train. He started saying "choo choo" today.
AFTERNOON:
After the train ride we drove to Santa Clara and spent a couple of hours on the boardwalk. Lil'D took a real good nap in the stroller. We drove back to San Jose and arrived at about 4pm.
EVENING:
We visited again with aunts, uncles and cousins. For dinner we had chicken, potato salad, beans & chili, watermelon and oreo ice cream for desert. I spent a lot of time chasin' Lil'D...it was exhausting. J chased him to, between the two of us he kept us busy. J and I left early and went to the hotel to put Lil'D down and to get ready for the next day. I am getter better and better at pulling everything out and packing things back up. These past two days were great because we stayed in this hotel for two nights. Everything is ready for tomorrow...
-Until tomorrow
June 25, 2007
Day 3...Vacation
We got up and headed to San Jose. We arrived at about 11am. Lil'D was still taking his nap so Grandma & Grandpa Ham got out and we drove around until he woke up. We visited a little and left to go to the Children's Discovery Museum.
AFTERNOON:
We at lunch first and then went to a special room for 4 yr old and under. Lil'D was in heaven. There was also an infant crawling room. He loved it. He also loved watching the other kids. He really had a lot of fun. So did we. There were a lot of neat things to do. Afterwards we went outside the museum and there was a ton of trees and grass and we let Lil'D loose. He walked and walked until he just couldn't anymore. He was exhausted. We went back over to where Grandma & Grandpa Ham were. Grandpa Ham came with us and we checked into the hotel. I put Lil'D down for a nap while J took Grandpa Ham back. I got everything organized for tonight and tomorrow. When Lil'D woke up from his nap we headed back.
EVENING:
Lil'D entertained everyone before dinner. He had everybody laughing. It was finally time for dinner! We had steak, potato and cheese casserole, cole slaw and watermelon. Lemon cake for dessert. It was yummy. Lil'D loved the potatoes! After dinner Lil'D entertained everyone again. We headed over to the hotel at about 8:30 and got Lil'D to bed by 9pm.
-Until tomorrow
June 24, 2007
Day 2...Vacation
We survived the first night with Lil'D. The trick was getting him to sleep.
We left the hotel at around 9:30am. There is just so much to organize and get together every morning. I am trying to be as organized and efficient as I can.
AFTERNOON:
We drove to Heartz Castle in San Simeon. We had lunch first and then went on a tour of the castle. It was incredible. The exterior was way better than the interior. The pools and the flowers were my favorite parts! Lil'D did pretty good. He got through more than half of the tour and then got antsy. He took a quick cat nap on the bus drive down from the castle. I got another magnet!! We continued north and drove along Hwy 1. The scenery was just incredible with the ocean and rocks on one side and the mountains on the other. Lil'D took a nice long nap. So did I. We finally got to the hotel on Monterrey. It was a really nice room. I Lil'D proofed the room and unpacked a few things.
EVENING:
We went to go find a place for dinner. We just settled for Denny's because it was the closest restaurant to Wal-Mart. Dinner was really good. I was surprised. We went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and headed back to the hotel. We set the mood for Lil'D with no tv and only one light and gave him a bath. He had his bottle and I laid down with him. It took about 20 minutes but he finally fell asleep. I was so happy. J and I looked for something to do in San Jose. He found a Children's Museum that is supposed to be really great for 1 year olds. We will try it out. Grandma & Grandpa Ham are going to be visiting with Grandma Ham's brother and sister.
Time for bed!!!

Day 1...Vacation
J and I didn't get to be last night till 12:15. It took longer to pack than I thought. I managed to get all of our clothes in one bag, including Lil'D. We were supposed to get up at 6am. We got up at 6:45. We were on the road by 8:30. We drove to Santa Barbara to pick up Grandma & Grandpa Ham. Lil'D was so excited when they got in the car. He knows how to say Grandpa. He says it real good to.
AFTERNOON:
We got lunch at Subway in Santa Barbara. Then we drove to Solvang. It was so quaint and pretty. The hills are covered with green trees. All the shops were just beautiful dressed up Danish style. There were tons of candy and chocolate stores. We, of course, stopped to get candy. We also tried some famous pastry that they are known for. It was basically funnel cake. It was yummy. We picked up a really cute toy for Lil'D at a toy shop and I got some postcards. We on an excursion to a waterfall about 10 minutes outside of town. It was a beautiful drive. The road was just lined with trees that tangled within each other. The walk to the waterfall was nice. We headed to Lompoc afterwards.
EVENING:
We had dinner at Pea Soup Anderson's. Grandma Ham and I had pea soup. It was yummy. We found our hotel and unloaded everything out of the truck. J and I realized we hadn't stopped for some dish soap to wash Lil'D's bottles. Off to Wal-Mart we went. The weather was really cool. That was unexpected. We finally got settled. Lil'D didn't fall asleep till 10:30. He just couldn't get settled. Hopefully he will do better tomorrow night.

Thankful Thursday...
-I am so blessed that Lil'D is walking. Everyone keeps saying "watch out now" and "oh, no." I think it is awesome that he is walking. He is becoming independent. I am so proud of him. My house has been Lil'D proofed so I love watching him walk around the house! It has been so much fun this week watching him walk. He is still a little wobbly and unsteady, but he can get where he wants to go. Praise the Lord!
-I am blessed to have a husband who is so supportive of me! J is always there to cheer me up when I need it! He never raises his voice to me or ever really gets mad at me. He does everything he can to make my life easier.
-I am blessed to have an awesome sister-in-law. I call her Auntie E - Lil'D loves her! On Saturday, I invited a ton of people over for Lil'D's first birthday. Auntie E was right there helping me with everything! She fed Lil'D when he was hungry, she helped keep and eye on him. She helped clean up after the party was over. She is always there trying to make my life easier!! She is a HUGE blessing!
-I am blessed to have a sweet and incredibly helpful niece like Andy. She is 15, about to turn 16 in August. She was an incredible helper on the day or the birthday party. She fed Lil'D and dressed him for the party while I was picking up the balloons. She is always wanting to be involved and help any way she can! What a sweet, sweet, SELFLESS girl!
-I am blessed to have a best friend like Chica. She was also a huge help at the birthday party. She made sure I was drinking my water and stayed afterward and cleaned up. After the party, J and I relaxed instead of having to clean up. What an awesome friend she is to me!
-I am blessed that I only have 1 more day and we will be leaving for our vacation. V.A.C.A.T.I.O.N for 11 days...away from work. WAHOO!
-I am so thankful that I don't have anything to do tonight except pack for vacation. Monday was a graduation party for my nephew, Tuesday was his graduation, and Wednesday night was our church small group. Every night this week J and I put Lil'D to bed and then went to bed ourselves. Tonight, we will be at home and everything will be back to our regular schedule!!!
Blessing to all! I will be on vacation next Thursday. I may or may not have time to blog while I am gone! Have a beautiful week next week!!

My Blogging Story:
How did you start blogging?
I came across a few blogs when I had searched housekeeping and organizing. The first blog I came across was Keeping the Home. I was obsessed with reading about her life and what she did everyday. I only lurked, I didn't know anything about comments. I didn't even know it was called a blog. I started thinking I would like to do this. Have a journal online. Ohhhh, it was a Web log, that's what it was. I searched for free web logs. I came across blogger. I set up journal and was so nervous when it published my first entry. I felt naked and like the whole world was looking at me. I somehow found other women by clicking on the Next Blog button on the blogger toolbar. I saw beautiful headers and customized sidebars. I wanted this. I AM a designer after all. I started playing with my html and then blogger beta happened. I searched everything I could to come up with my own design. My blog isn't as fancy and some, but it's simple and has everything on it I want. I still have a problem with font size in my sidebars. I can't figure that out for some reason, but I'm sure I'll figure it out as I have more time to play with it. I have changed my blog design about 3 times since blogger beta and it takes me about 5 hours to transfer everything over and get everything in the order I want it. Once my design was like I wanted it, I felt more comfortable about commenting on others blogs. I am super shy in real life, so this was a big step. I just started commenting about 6 or 7 weeks ago. I am breaking out of my shell and trying to experience the entire BLOG experience. Time is the only thing that holds me back. I am a Mom to a 1 year old, I have a full time job as a kitchen designer, and I do everything I can to juggle my son, my job, my husband my house...AND MY BLOG.
Did you intend to be a blog w/a big following? If so, how did you go about it?
I by no means have a big following...YET!
What do you hope to achieve or accomplish with your blog? Have you been successful? If not, do you have a plan to achieve those goals?
I, first, love that my blog serves as a journal. It will forever hold all my memories accurately! Secondly, I love that my blog keeps my family up to date on my life. If I have forgotten to tell my Mom something, she can find out about it on my blog and ask me about it. Lastly, I love the encouragement I can give other bloggers with comments, I love the encouragement I get from other bloggers and I love knowing that I can help someone by relating to them without them asking me.
Has the focus of your blog changed since you started blogging? How?
Not really. I have always wrote in a journal time way. I don't think that I am a great writer like some of the blogs I read. I don't put as much time into my posts as I could. It's a journal to me...plain & simple. I have just started to participate in challenges and carnivals, we will see where that takes me.
What do you know now that you wish you'd known when you started?
Bloggers are really nice and encouraging. There is nothing to be afraid of! Just comment, and comment some more and keep commenting!
Do you make money with your blog?
What do you think? No.
Does your immediate or extended family know about your blog? If so, do they read it? If not, why?
Yes my whole family knows about my blog:
- I have two faithful readers. 1st is my Dad! He reads it pretty much everyday! It's probably because I talk to my Mom on the phone everyday. He can find out all about my life from my blog. He hasn't commented yet. Probably doesn't have the time to make a profile.
- Second is my good friend Kaydee (she also goes by Star) She was my first reader!
- My Mom. She hardly reads it. It's either because we talk everyday or she just forgets to read it. She has never commented.
- My brother knows all about it, but I don't think he reads it. I might be mistaken though. Who knows.
- My mother & father-in-law. They know about it but every time I ask them about it they say that I haven't given them the link and they forget about it.
- My best friend: Chica-she knows it's there but never reads it. She doesn't have time.
- My best friend from college: Jules-she knows about and it and probably reads it from time to time. She hasn't commented yet.
- My best friend from highschool: Nette-she knows about it and probably reads it from time to time. She hasn't commented yet.
What two pieces of advice would you give to a new blogger?
- Just get in there and comment. Don't be afraid.
- Search your problem that you are having with your template or html. Someone has asked the question and the answer is somewhere to be found!

Weigh in...WEEK FIVE

Weekend Review...
J and I continued out backyard quest! We took about 10 bags of leaves and branches to the dump! I swept and swept and swept...until the wind was blowing it back in my face. J got 5 bags of bark from Home Depot. The bark looks great! The dirt looks a little funny but at least it is clean.
Lil'D is feeling much better! He took a nice long nap and woke up really hungry! After I fed him we went to the Fair. It was so much fun! Lil'D loved all the sights and sounds and smells!! We even got tickets to come back another day for free! We may go back on Father's day. We will see.
Sunday:
We went to church this morning since Lil'D was feeling better! The girls in the nursery were glad to see him again. It had been a month because that is how long he has had this cough. Thank goodness it has gone away! Only a couple days of antibiotic left! Lil'D's first birthday is next Saturday and I want him well for his birthday party. Then we go on vacation the Saturday after that. Only 13 days till vacation!!
After church we put Lil'D down for a nice nap. I made my grocery list and did some planning for the birthday party. When Lil'D woke up we went to the grocery store. We also went by Auntie E's. They are always glad to see Lil'D. Lil'D took his second nap a little late. I took a nap too.
For dinner, J made pasta while I cleaned the exterior of the kitchen window. Lil'D happily swung in his swing. It felt so good to be in our clean backyard! Lil'D tried pasta for the first time. He wasn't thrilled with it. Next time maybe. We played together for a long while. Lil'D is starting take more and more steps on his own. He just goes for it. He can walk from the linen closet to the couch. He does really well when your not looking. He is also testing Mama. He has started to cry more when he doesn't get his way. Lord, give me patience!
J and I went to bed at 9:30pm! Wa-hoo, sleep!
MONDAY morning:
I got up at 6am this morning. I just can't do the 5am yet. I'm hurtin'. When I got Lil'D up this morning, he was upset the whole time I was dressing him. I usually make a 6oz bottle. I made a 7 instead. He downed it and wanted more. I gave him 4 more ounces. He was super hungry this morning. I think he is going through a growth spurt. He took his medicine really good this morning instead of crying through it. Patience, patience! We got to Pam's at 7:15am. I just can't make 7am anymore. I've got to get going better in the morning. Time to get to work!
-Until tomorrow.

Thankful Thursday...
Lil'D is feeling much better! He has been quite a whiner the past couple of days, he hasn't really ever whined before. But at least he is nothing like he was on Tuesday!
My workout schedule has went to the birds. I managed to go for a run/walk this morning as soon as Lil'D woke up, but that is it. I have also not been eating very well. I hadn't planned on being here at home for lunch. There is really nothing here for lunch. My salad is at work. I have eaten things like peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and frozen chicken strips hidden in the back of the freezer. I checked my weight this morning and I was relieved to see that I had only gained a little less than half a pound. I'm gonna workout a lot this weekend and definitely tomorrow night!
Since the past couple of days have been so crazy I am glad to list all the things I am thankful for:
- 9 wonderful years with my sweet J. We've seen good times and bad times but we have managed to give our marriage to the Lord and let him be in control!
- that the doctors were able to diagnose Lil'Ds ear infection and get medication to fight it. And that his 102 fever came down yesterday! He doesn't have fever anymore...Praise God!
- Even though we rent I am able to make a home out of the house we live in.
- My boss is so great first: to not be upset or question me or be the slightest bit weird about me not being at work for three days; second: to let me work at home and third: to trust me so much that the hours that I write on my timesheet are hours I have truly worked. Bless him for that!
- I have a laptop to work at home with!
- My health to take care of my Lil'D, to get housework done, to work and to workout.
- Peace that I find when Lil'D is down for a nap.
- For the wonderful, uplifting comments I have received from the lovely ladies in blogville!
I have to get back to work!! I've got to pile up some hours or my paycheck is going to suffer heavily!
-Until tomorrow

Weigh in...WEEK FOUR
We put him to bed as usual at about 7:45pm or so last night. At about 9:45pm he started cryin' a little. It got worse and worse. J & I brought him into the bed with us and he tossed and turned and whined, then he would fall asleep. It would start all over again. Every time he would cough he would wake up. We gave him some benedryl at about 11:30pm to help him sleep. He finally went to sleep in my arms at about 12:45. I took him to his bed so that I could get some sleep. He would softly cry every now and then, but he would fall back asleep pretty fast. When I got up this morning. I woke him up at the usual time, 6:45. I dressed him and gave him his bottle. He was very hot. I took his temperature and it was 102degrees. I called the advice nurses and they said I should take him back to the doctor.
A LITTLE FYI ABOUT ME: I LOVE MARY ENGELBREIT...

So I was supposed to get up this morning at 5am. Yeah, it didn't work. I got up at 6:10. That is ok!! Praise God for more sleep!! (cower minions!)
SUNDAY:
J was sick and slept in. I will do anything to get that man well! It is hard when he is sick!! Lil'D and I played all morning. He was kinda crabby more that usual. He is usually never crabby. He is whining a lot. When J went into the other room, Lil'D stood at the gate and whined and whined. I, of course, told J not to even think about coming around the corner. I'm doing my best not to give in to this. I just divert his attention elsewhere. That has worked so far. J and I managed to get a trip to Costco in. We needed water and formula. I stopped by Payless and got a pair of shoes. Auntie E has these shoes on yesterday and I just had to get a pair. They are awesome shoes!! Here they are if you want to take a look. They are so comfortable and cushy!! They will be the perfect vacation shoes!!! I can't wear them to work because they are not professional at all. I love them! I love getting new shoes!! Praise God for new shoes at a reasonable price!!

I'm Crazy...
TODAY:
Today J and I cleaned up the backyard. We moved into this house September of last year (we are renting). We haven't touched the backyard since. It has been at the bottom of the list. It has finally gotten to the top. Mainly because we are having Lil'D's birthday party here and we will be BBQin'. So people will be in my backyard. I wish, I wish, I wish that I would have taken a before picture. We slaved away all day, cutting back tree limbs, digging up weeks, cutting roots and such. My backyard isn't even that big. Progress is awesome!! It was so wonderful to stand at my kitchen window and look into the backyard and see the ground! Small triumphs!!!
LIL'D:
Lil'D got to swing in his new swing today. He was so good to us!!
OTHER STUFF:
I went over to Auntie E's house and did my niece's makeup for prom! It was really a fun time. She looked beautiful!! If I get one of the pictures I will post it.
So now it is time for bed. Duh!
-Until tomorrow
