Can you believe it? Today is the last day of January. Where did the month go? It is crazy how time flys sometimes!
Today I continued my saga through the Barn project. Of course I didn't get to do what I had planned to do. The bar was supposed to be completed and sent to the manufacture. It didn't happen. "Senior" designer and I have a meeting at 10am tomorrow at our office. The project manager, the electrician and the lighting engineer are meeting with us. Lighting is a whole other world in addition to cabinetry. I know simple basics. I am learning, slowly. The problem is...I don't always design a lighting plan. Only some projects. So when you spend all that time planning it out, learning the ins & outs you don't do another one for another couple of months and you forget. I do cabinets ALL of the time. Lighting only sometimes. So, today I was putting together a specification package of all the appliances in the Barn house. Wee, fun. Copy, Copy, Copy...staple.
Tonight our small group has been cancelled due to the leaders son being sick. A couple of us are going out to eat at Fuddruckers. Lil'D is at Auntie E's. She couldn't wait to see him. Gosh, I love her! She is such a huge blessing to have!!! and she loves Lil'D too!
Off to eat we go!

Here is the rendering of the kitchen. The veneers that are going to be used are Block Mottled Macre & Tropical Olive. There are no handles, only channels where you can grab the doors or drawers with your fingers. The soffits above the cabinets are veneer as well. This kitchen is going to be amazing when it is completed!!!

I'm done with all the details needed to email the plans to the manufacturer!
Off it goes!!
I left work today at 4:30 to pick up Lil'D. Usually J picks him up, but when it's raining J likes me to pick him up. Lil'D had peas and applesauce for dinner. J & I picked up the house a little. The electrician is coming tomorrow to install my new range and microhood!! Yeah me!
It's time for a snack and to relax and watch American Idol.

This is the Barn Residence that I have been working on since I got back from maternity leave back in September. We have been working with this client for almost 2 years now. The house is being built as we speak. As I said in the previous post, they are about to "place" the concrete foundation. I am most proud of this job.

Plain old Monday...
Today was just an ok day. I worked on Barn for the majority of the day. I am working out details so that it can get ordered. My goal was to send one area a day to order. But that goal won't start until tomorrow. Here is my goal list to order Barn:
-Tuesday (1-30-07) KITCHEN
-Wednesday (1-31-07) BAR & BUTLER'S PANTRY
-Thursday (2-1-07) FAMILY ROOM ENTERTAINMENT CENTER
-Friday (2-2-07) OFFICE
-Monday (2-5-07) MASTER BATH
-Tuesday (2-6-07) POWDER ROOMS & GUEST BATHS
-Wednesday (2-7-07) LAUNDRY ROOM
-Thursday (2-8-07) WINE CELLAR
-Friday (2-9-07) HIS CLOSET
-Monday (2-12-07) HER CLOSET
-Tuesday (2-13-07) MASTER BEDROOM ENTERTAINMENT CENTER -Wednesday (2-14-07) OUTDOOR BBQ
-Thursday (2-15-07) INTERIOR DOORS
That's the plan. It will take 2 weeks to get all these areas ordered. After the orders are placed, the cabinet manufacturer sends us the working drawings for approval, then they go into fabrication. We've got a long way to go on this project...and the client wants to move into their new house in September. The concrete is being "placed" this next month. I don't think September is realistic. For our sake I hope the building of this house gets behind!
I left work at 4:40 and got home at 5:05. I was going to walk but realized it was getting darker faster because it was cloudy. So J & I made a trip to Costco. We needed water and formula. I was really hungry so we got Taco Bell for dinner. BAD, BAD, BAD!!!! I did nothing for the rest of the evening.
Nothing meaning, no house cleaning or projects that needed to be done.
I fed Lil'D squash and applesauce. He was a good boy!! J & I sat and played with him for a while. Then it was his bedtime. J & I just relaxed for the rest of the evening. I watched a little of the Miss America Pagent. It was really kind of boring.
Time for bed!

Wonderful day!!
J let me sleep in a little this morning. Lil'D woke up and about 7am. J got up and fed him and played with him. I got out of bed at 8:30. Lil'D was all smiles. They were having a wonderful time together. I fed him his breakfast: rice cereal mixed with bananas.
I set up the projector and started to trace the Padres logo on the wall. After tracing, I took a little break. We went to pick up a prescription and a few items at the grocery store. We also got lunch. After lunch I painted the logo. Lil'D took a nap. I managed to get all the color in, first coat anyway. Accomplishment!! J & I picked up the house a little and sat down for some family time and rest. Lil'D was all over the place. He spent some time in his Baby Enstein Discovery Center, in his pillow corral playing with all his toys, and napping in his crib.
I gave him applesauce for the first time today. He absolutely loved it.
Here is a list of all the vegetables and fruits he has had so far. The astericks represent his very favorites:

- Prunes (don't know about this one)
- then comes meats mixed with vegetables (yummy :))
His palette is getting bigger. He is really a good eater. He never turns his head away from anything. What a good boy.
After putting Lil'D to bed at around 7:45, J & I just relaxed. We watched the SAG awards, part of You're the One that I Want (couldn't stand to watch the whole thing), and then The Apprentice.
Ok, time for bed

Pretty!
I prettied up my blog today. I finally figured out how to add a custom banner! I love my blog now! It is just as I imagined...girly. I am a girly girl. I love pretty flowery pink things!!
So this weekend is already flying by. I spent the day finishing up the bolt mural in Lil'D's room. Tomorrow I will paint the Padres logo. I will finish it!
We also had a family birthday party. It is J's oldest brother's birthday. He is about 10 years older than J. We also went to church at 5:15. J and I sit in the cry room. There always seems to be people who really shouldn't be using the cry room in there. This lady came in with her daughter who seemed to be around 6. The little girl smacked on apple slices almost the whole time. It was so hard to concentrate. I tried not to let it bother me. Afterall, I was at church and who knows why the lady was in the cry room. It was just annoying.
I watched the following movies while making changes to my blog:
Jerry Maguire
Cocktail
Summer School is on right now (it's really lame so far)
Ok, time for bed!! I supposed to be in bed by midnight. I'm a little late.

I did it!!!!
So yesterday when I got home from work, J & I went for a walk with Lil'D. We walked for 25 minutes. Yeah...one new year's resolution started!! J just kept feeling worse & worse as the night went on. This morning J felt so bad he was going to go to the doctor. He discovered that the wrong doctor was on his insurance card. Some doctor that was like 4 hours away. He called and changed the doctor, but they told him he had to wait 5 days. Insurance companies are stupid! J rested all day, took cough medicine, ate chicken noodle soup, drank gatorade and orange juice. He called me at work at about 4:15 and asked me to pick up Lil'D. He didn't want to pick him up sick and spread his germs to the other kids. I left work at 4:30, picked up Lil'D & got home at 5pm. It was still very light outside! I changed really fast and went for a walk before it got dark!!! Yeah, me. I worried all day about how I wouldn't be able to walk for the next couple of days because J is sick. The reason for that is because I'm not going to walk by myself at night. I'm going to leave work at the same time tomorrow and Thursday I think so that I can walk.
I also cleaned the bathroom afterward. Then, I fed Lil'D, ate dinner, gave Lil'D a bath, fed Lil'D again, put Lil'D to bed and sat down and watched a little tv.
It's time for bed.

Weekend...ended
Boo. Why does the weekend go so fast? Why only 2 days. I need more time. I stayed up till 3am last night just reading and uploading Lil'D videos. I got up and fed Lil'D at 7am. He went back to sleep till 9 and J got up and let me sleep. I slept till 11. We were very lazy. It really was a nice morning. We went to the grocery store at about noon. When we got back and ate lunch we realized we had forgotten about Celeste's birthday. Lil'D's daycare is having a birthday party for her tomorrow. She turned 4 last week. So we ran to Babies R Us to get a gift. We spent the rest of the evening playing, feeding, bathing then putting Lil'D to sleep. He went to sleep at 7:30. Wish I would have. I am working on an inspirational mini scrapbook for a friend. I only finished half of it. Sometimes I am just too detailed. J went to bed at like 8:30. It is completely quiet in the house right now. I'm the only on up. Even the cats are crashed out for the night. Why am I such a night owl? I always have too many projects going. But you know what? It has actually been awhile since I had a couple of projects going on that didn't involve cleaning, work or Lil'D. I know that the painting in Lil'D's room involves Lil'D, but that is different. That is a creative outlet for me. My inner artist coming out. I wish that weekends lasted 3 days instead of 2. (Then I'm sure I'd wish for 4)

Great weekend...so far
I absolutely just live for the weekends! Yesterday, I got off work at 1pm. J took me to lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. It was just wonderful! After lunch, I stopped at Michael's to get some stencil paint for Lil'D's room. I picked Lil'D up from daycare and got home at 4:45. J was getting ready for his soccer game at 5:50. I fed Lil'D, this week he ate green beans. He has now eaten all the vegetables. Yeah, Lil'D. Next week we start on fruits...bananas first! Lil'D & I left and went to the men's church softball team dinner at the Elephant Bar & Grill. We got home at about 9pm. Lil'D went right to sleep, it was way past his bedtime.
This morning Lil'D didn't wake us up till 7:45. J went over to his brother's house to help him install wood flooring. I started painting the bolt in Lil'D's room. Chica & her sister came over w/MikeyMoo. MikeyMoo is Chica's sister's 18 month old son. They entertained Lil'D while I finished painting the bolt. Chica noticed that Lil'D has two teeth pushing through. I was surprised because Lil'D hadn't really been fussin' about it. After Chica left I went over to Auntie E's house to show J Lil'D's teeth. When I got back to the house, I traced the AFC west division champions on the wall. I didn't get very far because I had to start getting ready. J got home at 4:45. We got to church at 5:25. Scout was there by himself, Amy Jo was at home sick. We went to a birthday party. J barely survived because he was so sore from laying the flooring.
So that's it so far. Tomorrow we are relaxing and taking it easy. J wants to rest and do nothing.

Vacation follow up
I tried posting this on Monday and my computer froze and I lost everything. I was really upset because I had typed up the whole story. So here goes again, if I can remember it all.
On Friday (Jan 5) I went to see Ms. Adams. She was my twirling teacher from the age of 5. We had a wonderful visit. I caught up on who was where and who was married and how many kids everybody had. She absolutely adored Lil'D. She called him DD. Those are Lil'D's first and middle initials. That night my Brother grilled steaks. We all sat at the table like a family like old times. It felt good. We had a really nice family dinner.
That Saturday (Jan 6) my brother got up early and trimmed the hedges and trimmed the tree in the front yard so you could see the house. He also raked leaves. My Mom went out and helped him pick up leaves. When my Dad got home from work at noon, we all got ready and went to lunch. We went to a restaurant called The Jalapeno Tree. It was yummy. After lunch we went to Lowe's. Mom got a leaf blower. After Lowe's my Dad & brother drove home and Mom & went shopping some more. It was a good time. That evening we all went over to my Grandmother's house. Lil'D and her got to see each other again. She loves keeping her house heated with the heater. It was so hot in her house. I thought I was going to pass out. That night I packed all my bags and was finally ready to go.
On Sunday (Jan 7) I said bye to my Brother and Mom & Dad drove us to the airport 2 1/2 hours away. Once we got to the airport it was nuts. The lines just to check in were crazy. I asked one of the curbside check in guys if I could check in there with an e-ticket. He asked me if that was my baby. He took us to another podium and checked us in!!! Wha-hoo baby!! I love this guy. I said bye to my parents and got in the security line. This time I had a little stroller! I had to take off my shoes again and break down the stroller while holding Lil'D. Super-Multi-Tasker that I am!!! One of the security guys helped me open up the stroller and I got Lil'D in the stroller. I put my shoes on and grabbed my bags and I was ready to go. I had to buy a bottle of room temp water because security made me throw out my water. I got to the gate and hit the first restroom I got to. If I wouldn't have had the stroller I don't know what I would have done. I changed Lil'D and was sweating like crazy after I was done. (hormones I guess) Anyway, they let me use the stroller all the way down the gate tunnel. I broke it down and Lil'D and I got in our seat. I put water only in one bottle (this would be for landing) and fixed a bottle of formula for take off. I was ready before anyone else got on the plane. People passed us and all I could think of was who was going to sit next to us? This lady and her husband were putting their baggage in the overhead and she said "Oh goody, I get to sit next to the baby!" I was so relieved!!!!! Yeah-I was going to survive this!!! It took about 15 minutes more to finally pull away from the gate. The lady, Jan, asked if she could hold Lil'D. Lil'D really took to her and liked her. I looked out the window and there were like 12 planes in front of us waiting to take off. It was going to be a while. Jan played and played with Lil'D. he played with her necklace and she sang to him. They were having a good 'ol time. The pilot said that it was going to be another 20 minutes because they had shutdown a runway because they thought a panel had fell off another plane taking off and they were inspecting the runway. Jan suggested I give Lil'D some water because he was getting fussy for his bottle. We waited on that plane for and hour and a half. It was 4 hours and 15 minutes since Lil'D had eaten. I felt so horrible but the water satisfied him and he fell asleep. I of course woke him up on take off and fed him his full bottle. He went right back to sleep. I even fell asleep. When I woke up, Jan had gotten my lunch for me. I was so glad, I was starving. Lil'D continued to sleep. He slept the entire flight. I survived. I managed to pack everything up. Jan blocked the way and Lil'D and I got off the plane with everyone else in our row. My stroller was waiting for me at the door of the airplane. Jan helped me put Lil'D in and we were off! I thanked her and we parted. What a blessing Jan was!! Thank God for Jan!!! She was an angel! I made it down the elevator and there was J!!! I hugged him tight!!! He got Lil'D out of the stroller right away and held him while the bags were coming. I got both bags right away. We got to the car and were out of there in 30 minutes!! Home at last. It was a long day already.
When I got home the house was spotless!!! J is so wonderful!! What would I do without him?
That's it. That was our trip! It was great and now it was over. Until next time! At least my parents and brother got to see Lil'D!
I already miss all of them!

Lazy day!
Got up this morning at 9:30am. (7:30am EllieMae time) Mom & I just sat around and enjoyed each others company. Lil'D took a nap and I started crocheting him a blanket. It was nice to get back to crocheting. I haven't done it in a while.
My brother came in at around 1:45. We decided to go by my Dad's work. I met a lot of the people that my Dad works with. They all loved Lil'D. (who wouldn't)
I also got to each lunch at Butcher Boys. I had a huge sliced beef sandwich. It was to die for. I had only had hamburgers at this place until today. The BBQ sandwich was probably one of the best I have ever had. It was so big it fell apart!
We went to the Wal-Mart SuperCenter again and got some things that we forgot. We picked up Dad at 5:30 from work.
Mom & I went to the mall and did a little shopping. My Dad & brother watched Lil'D. I found 2 pairs of shoes. I really needed them. I was looking for some cute flats that I could dress up or down. My Mom also bought a few outfits for Lil'D. Clothes for him are always on sale. Mom bought him a creeper that says Howdy Partner!! CUTE, CUTE, CUTE.
I put Lil'D to sleep at about 10:15. (8:15 EllieMae time) He is still on California time!!! He is being such a precious boy. I am such a blessed Mommy!
I'm off to work on the blanket.
-Until tomorrow.

Home Sweet Home
Being in the home that I grew up in is so comforting. Lil'D & I have been having a very nice time. Here are the things that we have done:
1. Lil'D met his Great Grandmother on New Year's Day
2. Mom, Lil'D & I have gone shopping
3. We ate at Mike's BBQ (finally some real BBQ!)
4. Mom got to show off her Grandson at the bank where she works
5. We ate at Stacy's Deli
6. We went to Hobby Lobby (I could spend hours in this store)
7. We went to the Wal-Mart SuperCenter (I wish we had one of these)
I still have lots more I want to do. Here is that list:
8. Dad wants to show off his Grandson at his work
9. I want to eat lunch at Butcher Boys
10. I want to go shopping more with Mom (we live to shop together!)
11. I am going to see Ms. Adams (she was my twirling teacher, starting at age 5)
12. I have to go see some of my Mom's friends: Dorthy (she let us borrow the
pack&play and the highchair) & Ruth (she has been my Mom & Dad's neighbor for
28 years)
13. I want to go to Fred's (it is kind of like BigLots!)
14. I want to go out to eat with Mom, Dad & my brother at a restaurant!
That is all I can think of right now.
On Monday, Lil'D started eating peas. He has been eating them all week. He doesn't like them as much as carrots. On with the peas.
I miss J...alot! He helps me so much with Lil'D. Of course, that is not the only reason I miss him. I love him bunches and I misses his sweet kisses!!
I am off to try to find my Mom a razor case on Ebay. Wish me happy shopping!
